主讲人： Dr. Igor Timoshkin

主讲人简介：

Igor Timoshkin received the degree in physics from Moscow State University, Moscow, Russia, in 1992, and the Ph.D. degree from the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine (ICSTM), London, U.K., in 2001. He was a Researcher at Moscow State Agro-Engineering University, Moscow, and then at the Institute for High Temperatures of Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow. He joined ICSTM in 1997. He joined the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, U.K., in 2001, where he became a Reader (Associate Professor equivalent) in 2016. His current research interests include transient spark discharges in gases and liquids, environmental applications of non-thermal plasma discharges, plasma air-cleaning, and bio-decontamination technologies.

讲座内容:

The High Voltage Technologies (HVT) Research Group is a major Pulsed Power and HV engineering research group in the UK. The HVT group has accumulated significant experience and expertise in the field of gas discharges, discharges in liquids, pulsed power and power modulation, high voltage engineering, non-thermal plasma and plasma applications, electric plant diagnostics and insulation coordination.

In the Lecture, Dr. Timoshkin will present and discuss main activities and research projects in the field of:

1. Breakdown in gases and liquids (including water and dielectric fluids);

2. Development and coordination of novel, environmentally friendly dielectrics, practical applications of pulsed power in different engineering areas including underwater plasma-acoustic sources and plasma drilling;

3. Non-thermal plasma methods for air cleaning and decontamination, pulsed power methods for liquid treatment, decontamination of microorganisms and bio-fuel production.
